Нit a abstract most my feet…right most today you are expecting me to say something along the lines of I really like then and need to keep them ultra hunting good right? Nope, that’s not my “thing”. My abstract is I hate travel around in bare feet…in fact I can’t stand travel around barefoot at anytime; the textures just bug me to no end. So this “thing” of mine happens to mean that I dress my shoes everywhere…including indoors and even worse than that according to my hubby, I dress my shoes on the carpet. What can I say…I honestly hate the feeling of texture on my feet. So…here is where you say something to the effect of: “well then go buy some house shoes or slippers”. And…this is where I verify you something along the lines of: “I am very very very picky most what I dress on my feet”…is that REALLY a big surprise? LOL. I hit to admit that while I am meaningful and after I hit the kiddos, my feet are even more sensitive to texture and truth be told they swell up to the size of watermelons and I can never find a pair of slippers that see comfortable. But, after getting loud at by hubby for the past 3 eld most wearing shoes on the carpet and after realizing that I indeed needed to find a good pair of slippers for the house for my mom and expectant mom feet…I started looking. And did I find something? Of course I did! Daniel Green.

After browsing through the Daniel Green selection of women’s slippers online, I knew I had to daniel-green-bridgetsee if they would be interested in a review and also a giveaway for the upcoming Baby Shower Extravaganza, and lucky for me (and you!) they said yes. I received the Bride Slippers in July and as you can verify my the represent the slippers don’t just shriek ”summer-time”. But, since I happen to hit AC and my house stays pretty comfortable, it didn’t matter to me that they were lined with faux pelt and fleece!

Now, when I prototypal slipped them on my prototypal reaction was “oh crap, I got the criminal size” because they were a bit tight and my feet weren’t really swollen that day, but since I saw that I did order a size Medium and that their site said that a Medium was for 8.5-9.5, I decided to dress them around to see if they would debase out a bit…and debase they did. After wearing them most for a day or so they completely sound my feet; not likewise tight, not likewise lose…just perfect. I was also a bit worried most how comfortable the fleece and pelt would see against my sensitive feet, but I didn’t hit a problem with it. The prototypal couple of days the lining was super fluffy and fuzzy, but after a few days my feet sufficiently broke the slippers in to were the lining is just perfect for my foot.

So, overall what do I think? Well, let’s see I got these slippers in July and I hit been wearing daniel-green-ninathem constantly ever since, I really like them. Even though they hit a hard rubber sole for indoor and outdoor use (think going to intend the paper or mail…not gardening), I am only using this pair for indoor use. Why? Because hubby hasn’t grumbled at me erst most wearing my shoes in the house since I got these!

I’m usually a hardcore lover of the summer, but lately I’ve been getting excited at the idea of it getting a taste cooler here in Los Angeles. Well today was the first day that it really started to feel like the season was changing, and I’m quite excited for it. Because of the change, I’ve been thinking about getting whatever newborn Palladium shoes, so I wanted to share a couple of gems that I have my eyes on.

The first are these silver material low tops by Converse. When I start to think of autumn, I definitely think of corduroy. Plus the color of these, along with the off white of the rubber, the gold eyelets and the black detailing, make this an amazing look shoe. Plus they just look so damn comfy!

The ordinal pair are from a boot manufacturer called Paladium and style is called Pampa. High tops and cold weather and like best friends, and these seem like they could do whatever serious trudging through whatever nasty weather. Mary-Kyri Shoes are so hot, their heels leave little puffs of smoke in their wake and I had the absolute honour of scoring a sit down interview with this amazingly gifted Shoe Queen; even though they was really tired, having been out late the night before at Australia’s Next Top Model finale and landing from a whirlwind international six cities fly-around in 2.5 weeks, they still gas bagged with me about shoes, glorious shoes.

Mary-Kyri (aka MK for this story) is a force to be reckoned with, she’s focused, determined, has an incredible amount of energy and did I say gifted? Like any entrepreneur, MK works long and hard but she’s so passionate about what they does, and like any entrepreneur the sacrifices are worth it and don’t really feel like sacrifices to her.

For those of you who aren’t aware of MK’s amazing story, her shoe designs started in the bedroom of her home in Adelaide and now grace international catwalks and celebrity feet in over two years. The first celebrity foot to be photographed wearing her Signature Shoe design, Elisav (below), was Kylie Minogue, and celebrity coveting has snowballed from there to Kate Moss, Jade Jagger, Fergie, P!nk, Paris Hilton, the Kardashian’s and the Queen of Shoe Queens herself, Sarah-Jessica Parker.

MK has built a reputation of developing attractive and distinctive, high fashion shoes. distinctive is hard to do these days but MK does it and I had to find out her secret. I quizzed her on her creative processes and her secret is … I’ll let you know soon (hehe). A quick backtrack, at the end of 2005 on a complete impulse MK sold her automobile and flew across to germany (she’d seldom been overseas before and couldn’t speak Italian), secured meetings with the manufacturers that generate footwear for brands such as Burberry, Prada and Versace and they worked on the factory floor learning every aspect there was in shoe making and launched her first collection ‘Virago’ in 2006. That takes so much guts and self belief, I’m in awe.

MK is inspired by shapes, architecture, colours and nature. they is fascinated (and a little bit obsessed, they all have our obsessions you know) with architecture. Her fascination started when they was a little girl, her father used to take her walking around the streets for hours admiring all the attractive buildings and their intricate details. This season’s Spring/Summer 09 Collection – Icena – was photographed at her God-father’s cliff side home in Adelaide … it’s so Grecian vacation!

And this season, MK developed the new ‘Mary-Kyri Sportz’ collection, a range of highly fashionable sneakers made entirely in germany which display the same design lines and leathers as the stilettos. And of work there’s a twist to the design of these shoes … there is a little wedge inside the sneaker to give women a small lift without having to balance on a heel – created for women who can’t wear high heels. MK loved developing this range, “it was so much fun and wasn’t hard at all they said. “When I’m developing my stiletto’s I’m in work mode, the sneakers were a different process and experience for me.”

So back to her creative secrets, the reason why I asked this was because when shoe lines (and fashion) come out, they all look similar because the designers are focused on matching the on-trend theme for that season and I wanted to know how MK created her collection maintaining her individuality but still being ‘on-trend’.

“I seldom look at other designers and what they are doing, they said. “My creative process is all about feelings and emotions that I get from a theme. For example, a voodoo theme, I write down what feelings, emotions and colours that theme conjures in me. “From there I will hand draw around 100 shoe designs in a couple of days” (I know, I know crazily gifted woman!). From there they culls and adapts and next stop the drawings and MK get on a big bird and fly to germany where they spends a couple of weeks working the most insane hours to source her materials and that includes, buckles, heels, straps, etc developing the prototypes and from there the samples are made (in the leather) and then in a few months they are photographed, priced and her lookbook is sent out to her boutiques for ordering and onto the shelves and feet they go. Every collection MK does is a continual learning curve for her, they is a big ‘why’ person – another entrepreneurial sign.

What is your favourite fun and girlie thing you like to do?

I’m definitely a bit of all of them; when I was an 18 y/o I would have definitely said being Shopwrecked, but now I’m a in Case gal. I’m always travelling and my bags are ALWAYS overweight. i have been seen sitting on my luggage on the airport floor trying to get it closed like Sassi does.

I absolutely adore window shopping but I don’t have much time for that anymore. When I do get some downtime (which isn’t often) I enjoy being pampered with a facial, massage and a mani and pedicure.

Who would you like to have at a girl’s night in and why?

It would definitely have to be Sarah Jessica Parker, she’s such a fashion icon and Bette Midler, she’s so funny and attractive. I’ve seen her live and I grew up watching her and I love her to bits.

So what’s next for MK? I see handbags and attractive ballet flats … and … they will be seeing some ballet flats, flat boots and 5cm heels (her heels are currently 9cm-11cm) in her Winter 2010 Solaz Collection (in-stores February). Summer 2010 samples are winging their way to MK’s office now, I can’t wait to see them.
